Hack your V-Strom!
I was going to hack mine and ordered a LHS side-frame kit from DMC Sidecars in the USA. It arrived a few weeks back. It is brand new and has never been used. I unpacked the box recently for the first time and took the attached photo. It is a very well-made piece of work: very strong mounts and fasteners, beautiful weldments and burr-free edges, and a high-quality gloss black paint job (probably powder-coated). The kit includes a checkerplate sump guard and five pages of fitting instructions (photographs rather than words).
Why am I selling it? I happened across an ad in Australialisted for a double outfit as a going concern; it is now mine. My V-Strom has now sold and this this framing kit is available for purchase and I am very keen to sell.
Is it a good price? $1,125 is a good deal less than what it cost me. The asking price excludes freight/shipping costs from me to you.
You can't hack a V-Strom without a side-frame.
You could make your own if you know what you are doing and have a few spare weekends, but DMC do this for a living.
You could order the same thing from DMC, wait up to 3 months and pay more than what I am asking (depending on the exchange rate and freight costs at the time of shipping).
Or you can buy this frame now and just bolt it on!
